Casa Borrega to debut on July 4 | Blog of New Orleans

The puzzle that is Oretha Castle Haley is still to be completely figured out, but it seems that a critical mass of entrepreneurs have embraced it in the last 5 years. I have some theories why this is so (what a surprise) but at least we have to acknowledge that the (mostly market rate) condo development behind it http://www.ldgdevelopment.com/projects-muses1.shtml  for affluent, white residents (since affluent equals white more often than not in New Orleans) is what can support this retail boom. No doubt that some true visionaries and community-minded people (including some of the restaurant and shop owners on the street) are actively working on OCH as a whole, but the lack of success over the last 30 years to calm this area is a bit troubling in relation to this new boom of upscale shops and restaurants.
