Mid-Winter Cotillion presents 28 debutantes to a welcoming audience

If others in America are surprised by the news of the "1%", we in New Orleans are not. The city has long been ruled by a group of people so sure of their continued power that they flaunt it with outdated traditions like debutante balls. No, I'm not kidding. Here is some language from one such 2014 "presentation":

But quickly, the quiet changed to a rhapsody of high spirits as 28 young ladies were presented at the Mid-Winter Cotillion, one of the oldest continuing debutante presentations, dating back to the 1850s...
...After the last debutante made her way around the floor, the young ladies did an in-unison curtsy, followed by the first dance with fathers or family escorts. Soon, parents and friends adjourned for breakfast and conversation, while many of the debutantes, Mid-Winter members and friends enjoyed dancing to the music of Deacon John.
