Old, new and waiting in Mandeville

small house with a style that is like many of the older homes in Mandeville
umm, big houses are also like it used to be in Mandeville. this belongs to a long time family with ties to New Orleans. the property is an entire set of back to back blocks

Travesty of post-hurricane building

And yet many still wait

What is Lagalou?

Peter Berg from Planet Drum Foundation: "In Ecuador the playing out of social beliefs, intentions and priorities has a different emphasis...Things get done but the society is able to manage without industrial style infrastructures. For lack of an existing term to describe this I offer lagalou." Clearly, Peter sees that warmth and camraderie replace officialdom and frustration. This so describes New Orleans 2005+ that I adopt it as our name: Lagalou New Orleans. Read Berg's letter on this blog by searching term "lagalou" or looking through "Peter Berg" or "lagalou" tags.
