Underground Railroad Meets Public Park

Abandoned public space can be re-imagined by industrious citizens, much like the Lafitte corridor in New Orleans could be- yes, the one that the city has used as a dumping ground for years. And now, with the work that some citizens have devoted to its redesign, our city government has decided to add more flimsy work trailers and store more portable toilets on the old brake tag station end. What a good way to inspire.
I despair of our city ever using innovative, inclusive planning methods such as form-based codes which emphasize the character and physical form of a place over strict control of uses.
